There are few true Russian designs from the Soviet Era, during which, frames were either very simple or beautifully carved and stained wood frames, but not gilded.  These designs are courtesy of Ray and Sue Johnson, The Overland Gallery and The Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
